Enemies to Lovers, Summer Flings, and Spicy Reads: My Top Romance Picks

I’ve read over 50 books in the past couple of years, and while thrillers will always have my heart, romance books are a close second. There’s something about diving into a love story that can make you swoon, cry, and fall in love right along with the characters. If you're into thrillers too, you can check out my most recent favorites in this blog post.

You can also find me on Goodreads here, where I track everything I’ve read and what I’m currently loving. And if any of the books below catch your eye, simply click on the image to shop them directly from my LTK!

  • What it’s about: This is a heart-wrenching small-town romance about two broken people finding solace in each other. The story revolves around Archer, a man who lives in silence, and Bree, a woman escaping her past. Together, they learn to heal and love in ways neither of them thought possible.

  • Why I loved it: I’m sure you’ve seen this one all over BookTok, and trust me, the hype is real. This book had me in tears — but in the best way. I read it a year ago, and I still think about it. That’s how powerful this story is.

  • What it’s about: This feel-good romance takes you on a nostalgic journey through summers spent by the lake. It’s about childhood friends who reconnect as adults and have to come to terms with unresolved feelings and past mistakes.

  • Why I loved it: The summer vibes and flashbacks to their childhood made this book so special. It’s the perfect mix of lightheartedness and emotional depth.

3. The Wish by Nicholas Sparks

  • What it’s about: A touching, slow-burn romance that follows the story of Maggie, a woman reflecting on her first love, while grappling with a life-changing diagnosis. This book has a twist that will leave you speechless.

  • Why I loved it: This book had me in tears more times than I can count. It’s a slower read, but the emotional payoff at the end is so worth it. I recommended this to so many friends, and they all loved it too!

4. Twisted Games by Ana Huang

  • What it’s about: This spicy romance centers around a forbidden love between a princess and her grumpy bodyguard. It’s part of the Twisted series, but you can read it as a standalone.

  • Why I loved it: Out of the entire series, this one was my absolute favorite! The chemistry, the tension, and the spice were all perfectly balanced. I couldn’t put it down.

5. Hooked by Emily McIntire

  • What it’s about: A dark, modern retelling of Peter Pan that flips the script, centering on a dangerous romance between Hook and Wendy.

  • Why I loved it: This one is definitely on the spicier side, but it’s also a quick and addictive read. I finished it in just two days!

6. Flawless by Elsie Silver

  • What it’s about: The first book in the Chestnut Springs series is a cowboy romance that follows a professional bull rider and the woman who’s tasked with keeping him out of trouble.

  • Why I loved it: I’m officially obsessed with this series. The spice, the romance, the setting — everything was perfect. After reading this, I need to find my own cowboy.

7. Heartless by Elsie Silver

  • What it’s about: The second book in the Chestnut Springs series follows a single dad who’s grumpy, rugged, and completely irresistible, and the fiery woman who becomes his nanny.

  • Why I loved it: This one hooked me even more than the first book. It’s incredibly spicy and emotional, with a plot that I couldn’t get enough of.

8. Hopeless by Elsie Silver

  • What it’s about: The third book in the Chestnut Springs series features Beau, a man with a mysterious past, and the woman who breaks down his walls.

  • Why I loved it: Even months after reading it, this story is still so vivid in my mind. I need a guy like Beau in my life ASAP.

9. Bared to You by Sylvia Day

  • What it’s about: This is the first book in the Crossfire series, a steamy and intense romance between two flawed, complex characters who are drawn to each other in a way they can’t resist.

  • Why I loved it: Think Fifty Shades of Grey but better. That’s all you need to know.

These are just a few of the romance books I’ve loved over the past couple of years. Whether you’re into small-town romances, enemies-to-lovers, or something a bit darker and spicier, there’s something here for everyone.
